Just how terribly destructive can spending time with toxic people be? Science offers a few clues (and they're all disturbing). First, psychological research shows that criticism and  insults are five times more powerful than compliments . That means if you want to keep your marriage flourishing, for instance, you need to have five positive interactions to make up for every negative one. And what's true in relationships is true at work too.  Jerks, sadly, have more impact than superstars . When Harvard Business School professors calculated the cost of hiring a toxic employee versus the value of hiring a superstar, they found that adding a jerk to your team will actually cost you twice as much as hiring one A-player will earn you. Taken together, the evidence shows that even minimal interaction with   negative people   can have an outsized impact on your performance and happiness. So what should you do about it? Listening is the most important skill a leader can master. It is the basis of many other leadership skills .  However, it is a tough skill to master as it requires us to be more present, attentive, engaged, patient and flexible. Good listening skills in this digital era, is fast becoming an endangered species. There is a  difference between hearing what someone is saying and actually listening to them . Do you know how to structure a Digital Marketing Strategy?  Have you heard of the 𝗦𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗖 model? 🤔 It provides a framework for digital marketing strategy and planning. It was originally devised by PR Smith in the 1990s, and has subsequently been enhanced for digital marketing. 𝗦𝗢𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗖 consists of the 6 stages namely 👇: 1) Situation Analysis - Where are we now? 2) Objectives - Where do we want to be? 3) Strategy - How do we get there? 4) Tactics - How exactly do we get there? 5) Actions - Who does what and when? 6) Control - How do we monitor? There’s a lot more to digital marketing than just the tactical tools. You need the strategic groundwork in place to ensure you are using the right tactics and messages to target your audience, through the right channels, at the right time. 😉

Having one set of instructions, even if they are flawed, is preferable to having two sets of perfect directions that, when enacted together without reference to each other, cause havoc.  This is the principle of leadership in a nutshell. It is all about maintaining focus and creating positive outcomes.  So - what makes a successful leader, allowing one to accomplish this? 1. Ask to be judged  2. Don’t abuse your power  3. Your team is intelligent and can be trusted  4. Listen  5. Stop being an expert on everything  6. Be constructive  7. Judge your success by your team’s  8. Don’t be a narcissist  9. Have a sense of humor  10. Don’t be too distant  Sun Tzu, writing in the 5th century BC in  The Art of War  said: “What enables the wise sovereign and the good general to strike and c
