Emotional Intelligence

How Great Love Is Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, and all of the others including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all repaired their boats and left. Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to persevere until the last possible moment. When the island was almost sinking, Love decided to ask for help. Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said, "Richness, can you take me with you?" Richness answered, "No I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place for you here." Love decided to ask Vanity, who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel, "Vanity, please help me!" "I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered. Sadness was close by so Love asked for help, "Sadness let me go with you." "Oh...Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!" Hap

Time Management, Overachievers

Big Rocks Of Life Something to Think About... A while back I was reading about an expert on subject of time management. One day this expert was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration I'm sure those students will never forget. After I share it with you, you'll never forget it either. As this man stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers he said, "Okay, time for a quiz." Then he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouthed mason jar and set it on a table in front of him. Then he produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?" Everyone in the class said, "Yes." Then he said, "Really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. Then he dumped some gravel in and shook the jar causing pieces of gravel to wor

Make An Impact on People

Teddy the Special Boy - Make An Impact on People (they can change if you put an effort to change how you look at them and take an effort to change them bit by bit) Jean Thompson stood in front of her fifth-grade class on the very first day of school in the fall and told the children a lie. Like most teachers, she looked at her pupils and said that she loved them all the same, that she would treat them all alike. And that was impossible because there in front of her, slumped in his seat on the third row, was a boy named Teddy Stoddard. Mrs. Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed he didn't play well with the other children, that his clothes were unkempt and that he constantly needed a bath. And Teddy was unpleasant. It got to the point during the first few months that she would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then marking the F at the top of the paper biggest of all. Because Teddy was a sullen little

Who You Are Makes A Difference

A teacher in New York decided to honor each of her seniors in high school by telling them the difference they each made. Using a process developed by Helice Bridges of Del Mar, California, she called each student to the front of the class, one at a time. First she told them how the student made a difference to her and the class. Then she presented each of them with a blue ribbon imprinted with gold letters which read, "Who I Am Makes a Difference." Afterwards the teacher decided to do a class project to see what kind of impact recognition would have on a community. She gave each of the students three more ribbons and instructed them to go out and spread this acknowledgment ceremony. Then they were to follow up on the results, see who honored whom and report back to the class in about a week. One of the boys in the class went to a junior executive in a nearby company and honored him for helping him with his career planning. He gave him a blue ribbon and put it on his shirt. Th

Slice and Dice the Task

Why You Procrastinate A major reason for procrastinating on big, important tasks is that they appear so large and formidable when you first approach them. One technique that you can use to cut a big task down to size is the "Salami slice" method of getting work done. With this method, you lay out the task in detail and then resolve to do just one slice of the job for the time being, like eating a roll of salami, one slice at a time. Or like eating one piece of a frog at a time. Do One Small Part to Start Psychologically, you will find it easier to do a single, small piece of a large project than to start on the whole job. Often, once you have started and completed a single part of the job, you will feel like doing just one more "slice." Soon, you will find yourself working through the job one part at a time, and before you know it, the job will be completed. Just Get Started Once you start working, you develop a sense of forward momentum and a feeling of accomplishm

Neutralizing Worry Situations

Your job is to organize your life and work so as to minimize surprises and problems. However, this is not always possible, in spite of your best efforts. Use the Worry Buster If you are already facing a fear- or worry-inducing situation, here are the four steps of what we refer to as the "worry buster." Clarity is Everything Step Number One: Define the worry situation clearly in writing - fully half of all problems can be solved just by clearly defining them. Remember, "Accurate diagnosis is half the cure." Determine the Worst Step Number Two: Determine the worst possible outcome of the situation. What is the absolute worst that can happen? Be Willing to Have it SoStep Number Three: Resolve to accept the worst should it occur. The first step in dealing with any negative situation is to be willing to have it so. Once you resolve to accept the worst, your mind will become calm and clear and you'll be ready to take some constructive action. Take Action Step Number

Three Factors for Financial Success

What do wealthy people do or have that enables them to accomplish so much more than the average? I believe that these people are successful as a result of what I call leverage. Leverage is the key to maximizing and multiplying your potential for success and financial achievement. Here are three examples of leverage that you can develop to achieve financial independence: Become an Expert First, become an expert in your chosen field. Read all the books, take all the courses, listen to all the audio programs. Second, specialize in those areas that are of greatest importance and greatest value to your company or to your customers. And the third key is know your product or service inside out. Aim to be recognized as the industry expert in your field. Remember the person who has the expertise has a far greater contribution to make than the person whose knowledge is just average. Develop Your Skills The second type of leverage is skill. The better you are at your job, the more you will be

What Steps Can You Take To Develop A Positive Mental Attitude?

A positive mental attitude is a ‘must’ for all who wish to make life pay off on their own terms. Nothing great was ever achieved without a positive mental attitude. Recognize that your mental attitude is the one and only thing over which you, and you alone, have complete control, and exercise the privilege of taking possession of and directing your mind with a positive mental attitude. Realize, and prove to your own satisfaction, that every adversity, failure, defeat, sorrow and unpleasant circumstance, whether of your own making or otherwise, carries with it the seed of an equivalent benefit which may be transmuted into a blessing of great proportions. Learn to close the door of your mind on all the failures and unpleasant circumstances of the past, and clear you mind so that it can operate in a positive mental attitude. Find out what you want most in life and begin getting it, right where you now stand, by helping others to acquire similar benefits, thus putting into action that magi

The Magic of Solitude

The greatest men and women of all ages have practiced solitude regularly. Men and women who practice it correctly and on a regular basis never fail to be amazed at the difference it makes in their lives. Most people have never practiced solitude. Most people have never sat down quietly by themselves for any period of time in their entire lives. Most people are so busy being busy, doing something-even watching television-that it's hi

Becoming A Master of Persuasion

Persuasion power can help you get more of the things you want faster than anything else you do. It can mean the difference between success and failure. It can guarantee your progress and enable you to use all of your other skills and abilities at the very highest level. Your persuasion power will earn you the support of others. You Have Two Choices There are always two choices: either you can persuade others to help you or you can be persuaded to help them. It is one or the other. Most people are not aware that every human interaction involves a complex process of persuasion and influence. And being unaware, they are usually the ones being persuaded to help others rather than the ones who are doing the persuading. The Key to Persuasion The key to persuasion is motivation. Every human action is motivated by something. Your job is to find out what motivates other people and then to provide that motivation. People have two major motivations: the desire for gain and the fear of loss. The d

How To Psychologically Disarm Those Who Try to Make Your Life Miserable

What I am about to share with you can totally change your life. And no, it is not sucking up. It is a secret weapon that is your greatest source of power. Use it to your advantage. Let me explain. Isn’t it annoying when you can’t get along with your boss, colleagues, or subordinates? Would you agree with me that spending 8 hours with an annoying person is not fun? That is very stressful. Isn’t it? Years ago when I didn’t know better, I would advise you to quit that job and find another one. But you will probably meet another person just like that person wherever you go. You might say, “I don’t like to suck up. I want to be my own boss.” Well, losers call it sucking up but winners call it making friends. Besides, if you are planning to be your own boss one day, be ready to suck up to your customers. That's called customer service. You see what I mean? As the owner of your business, you better be prepared to go out your way to please the customer. And that’s the only way to be succe

A 2-Minute Stress Buster

Meditation seems to have arrived in the mainstream of late, and for good reasons. As reported in a 2004 issue of Time Magazine — brain imaging shows that meditation actually shifts your brain’s activity from the right side of your brain, over to the left side. So what? Such a shift calms your brain’s often overworked “rational thinking center,” and reduces the stress response. This shift of activity to the left side of the brain immediately allows you to be less stressed — and almost instantly far more relaxed and mentally focused. The following is a quick and easy seated meditation for rapid stress reduction, relaxed alertness, greatly increased energy and mental clarity. You’ll also get an easy boost toward healthy longevity. This simple exercise takes advantage of the direct connection of your eyes to the optic nerve — which is a direct pathway to the higher thinking centers of your brain. The resulting “message” tells your mind to unwind and release stress. The measurable *net resu

Selling to Today's Customers

What is selling? In its simplest terms, selling is the process of helping a person to conclude that your product or service is of greater value to him than the price you are asking for. How Markets Work Our market society is based on the principles of freedom and mutual benefit. Each party to a transaction only enters into it when he feels that he will be better off as a result of the transaction than he would be without it. The Three Options In a free market, the customer always has three options with any purchase decision. First, the customer can buy your product or service. Second, the customer can buy the product or service from someone else. Third, the customer can decide to buy nothing at all. Convincing the Customer For the customer to buy your particular product or service, he or she must be convinced that it is not only the best choice available but he must also be persuaded that there is no better way for him to spend the equivalent amount of money. Your job as a salesperson

Morning Affirmations

Morning affirmations are the perfect way to start your day. It is important that each day is started with a positive, uplifting attitude and morning affirmations can help you create that positive energy. Many people like to use positive affirmations to improve their life and attract the things that they desire, but they don’t realize that they could create an even better lifestyle if they applied their affirmations on a regular basis. Using daily affirmations is a very powerful way to help anyone attract positive experiences into their life. When you are using affirmations, it is best to understand where your negative thoughts and feelings are so that you know what needs to be replaced with the positive. It is easy to fall into the rut of focusing on those negative thoughts, be sure that you are not staying in the negative energy– it is good to acknowledge the energy, and then quickly replace it with the positive affirmations that you have. I prefer to use morning affirmations, I hav

You Deserve Wealth and Success

Everyone I talk to wants to be successful. Most are savvy, hardworking and willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their dreams. What's the one thing that holds most smart people back? What's the one thing that limits their earning potential? It's not starting a business. And it's not delivering your product or service. The one thing that keeps most people from being successful and wealthy is not knowing how to close the sale. No sale, no income, no business. Closing The Sale Is The Key to Success No matter how smart you are, how good your product or service is, or how long you've been in business - if you can't close the sale, you won't ever achieve the level of wealth and success you deserve. Whether you're just getting started or you're a seasoned business owner, I'm sure you've felt the frustration of losing a sale you deserved. And during this current recession, with sales shrinking, or at best stagnating for most businesses, there

Kick Open the Doors

Anyone who does a great job consistently, over and over, kicks open the doors of opportunity in all directions. Such a person will be hired, paid well, promoted, advanced and given additional responsibilities because there are so few of them. Make a Decision Today You can put your life and career into an upward trajectory by making the decision, today, that you are going to become one of the best time managers in your field. And in this session, you will learn how to do it. Benjamin Franklin once wrote, "Dost thou love life? Then do not squander time, for that's the stuff life is made of." Exploit Your Most Precious Resource Time is your most precious resource. It is all you really have. It is your life. As long as you have lots of time, you can do almost anything. But if your time is cut off for any reason, all of your possibilities are cut off as well. Queen Elizabeth I of England was one of the richest women in the world. She owned half the country. Yet, when she was o

Pass the 30-second test

OVER the past several years, I have worked with many companies, and I’ve been amazed to find that they do not know, and cannot articulate, their competitive advantage. How can a company expect prospects and customers to give their time and attention if they do not understand, clearly and concisely, what that company can do for them that no one else can do? The statement of competitive advantage is a 30-second statement of what differentiates your company in the marketplace. It sets you apart from the competition and it makes you sound like a polished expert right from the start. Companies who don’t understand their competitive advantage say things like “Our product is better quality” or “Our service is better”. Even if a company has better quality or better service, it won’t convince its customers just by saying so because many of its competitors will be saying the exact same thing! If you were to ask the average car dealer, computer store or furniture manufacturer what they do for a l

Trust Your Subordinates

Definition of Leadership Leadership has been called "The ability to get followers." One of the deepest cravings of human nature is the need to feel important, to have a sense of meaning and purpose in life and work. Leaders are invariably those who can tap into the deeper emotions of others and get them to rise above and beyond anything they may have accomplished in the past. Inspiring Words Lead to Victory Winston Churchill was able to arouse and inspire an entire nation with words like these: "Let us so carry ourselves that if the British Empire should endure a thousand years, men will still say, this was their finest hour." Spearhead A Turnaround Lee Iacocca stepped into Chrysler Corporation when the company was almost bankrupt. Through the sheer force of his personality, his unshakable determination, his appeals to Congress, to Chrysler workers and to Chrysler customers on television, he spearheaded a turn-around that will go down in the history books as one of

Have Big Goals, Big Dreams

It was in January 2009 on one fine day. I was coming back to my home from my working town Kota Bharu, Malaysia. Because the plane was late, I reached Seremban, Malaysia around 9 in the morning. Then I got ready for office and went to the nearest auto stand and boarded. On that beautiful morning, I was destined to meet this guy; a good looking educated guy who was in middle or late 30's, driving the auto. Just as I boarded, we struck up a conversation. Initially we talked about his daily routine and crime in Seremban, Malaysia Then we started talking about education and he told me that he graduated with a B.A. degree in 1993. He continued by telling me about his first job - a cleaner in an office where he used to get RM500 per month. Later he changed his job and his salary went to RM1,000 per month. From there he was promoted to a clerical job, where his salary reached around RM3,000 per month. But somehow the story of growth was stopped suddenly by fate and he lost his job. He told

Improve Your Positive Thinking Skills

Moving Past the Power of "What If" What a powerful thought! Or is it? The question of what if....let's ponder this for just a minute.... it could be very powerful yet it is only powerful in the sense of negativity! "What if" is not the right frame of mind if you are really living the laws of attraction. "What if" is a negative thought! Why waste time and energy wondering "what if"...? Things in our lives happen for a reason, even when at the time it seems like its the worse things in our lives, yet going back over everything time and again with what you think should have happened is not going to help you move forward in your life! Why be bogged down with this negative thinking? Why be bothered with things in your past that you think should have been different? Why be bothered with people, things and situations that are in the past that you have no control over? (It does not serve a purpose and only keeps yourself stuck in the past instead of

Everyone Can Perform “Miracles”

A positive mental attitude is the habit of keeping the mind busily engaged in connection with the circumstances and things one desires in life, and off then things one does not desire. The majority of people go all the way through life with their mental attitudes dominated by fears and anxieties and worries over circumstances which somehow have a way of making their appearance sooner or later. And the strange part of this truth is that these people often blame other people for the misfortunes they have thus brought upon themselves by their negative mental attitudes. The mind has a definite way of clothing one’s thoughts in appropriate physical equivalents. Think in terms of poverty and you will live in poverty. Think in terms of opulence and you will attract opulence. Through the eternal law of harmonious attraction one’s thoughts always clothe themselves in material things appropriate unto their nature. A positive mental attitude is the habit of looking upon all unpleasant circum

The Law of Abundance

The Law of Abundance - there is ample money for everyone who knows how to acquire it and keep it. We live in an abundant universe in which there is sufficient money for all who really want it and are willing obey the laws governing its acquisition. You Can Have All You Want There is plenty of money available to you. There is no real shortage. You can have virtually all you really want and need. We live in a generous universe and we are surrounded on all sides by blessings and opportunities to acquire all we truly desire. Your attitude, of either abundance or scarcity toward money, will have a major impact on whether you become rich or not. Make a Decision The first corollary of the Law of Abundance says that, "People become wealthy because they decide to become wealthy."They become wealthy because they believe they have the ability to become wealthy. Because they believe this completely, they act accordingly. They consistently take the necessary actions that turn their belief
